Why aren’t you listening to JJAMZ?

The unfortunately named JJAMZ is an equal opportunity indie-rock-pop group hailing from Los Angeles. The band is comprised of a who’s who of alt music icons, including: Z Berg (formerly of the Like), Alex Greenwald (formerly of Phantom Planet), James Valentine (of Maroon 5), Michael Runion (solo artist), and James Boesel (of Rilo Kiley and the Elected (who knows what the former’s status is these days)). release me- the like

do you like the like?  i sure do.  in 2010, the la-based group underwent a major lineup change (adding 2 new members; ditching charlotte froom the (former) bassist), which no doubt influenced their sound.  we’ve got a lot more keyboards, for example!  gone are the moody, mumbly songs they were known for.  thanks to mark ronson, release me is more 60’s girl group than the post-garage-rock-rock of are you thinking what i’m thinking?  let’s just say release me is a total about-face.  likewise, z berg, the lead singer, is newly mod complete with bob, shift dresses and edie sedgwick makeup.  … Continue reading release me- the like
