I was a very happy dork when True Blood opened on Tara experiencing her new vampire abilities, and the way the sky opened up was simply fantastic. Mad props, guys, mad props. Then when Tara was about to attack that girl, you could still hear the change in heartbeats, a detail which I missed the first time. I was kinda pissed that Tara decided she desperately needs a tan and hops in a booth at the “Curl Up and Fry” salon. So now the Hardy Boys–Bill and Eric–are tasked with bringing in Russell Edgington, but not without putting on some … Continue reading Whatever I Am, You Made Me… Have Hooker Flashbacks
We waited for so long. And we were rewarded. Don’t read this if you don’t like spoilers. Much has been said and analyzed about Season 5 of Mad Men, including the dynamic shift which has affected almost all the main … Continue reading Season 5 of Mad Men ends
There has always been a distinction between nerds, geeks, and dorks, though it is rather subtle and few can tell the difference. But for the sake of that distinction I write this so you can know which category you or your friends fit in and then you can call them out on it. First we have nerds, they are the smarty-pants of the bunch. The kind of glasses-wearing know-it-alls that are very smart and may or may not be able to keep a lid on just how smart they are. For better or worse, they know more than you. Think … Continue reading Nerds, Geeks, and Dorks… Which One Are You?
Brand new baby vampire Tara is one of the scariest vampires I’ve seen on this show. She was a rage-filled human before she was turned, and now she’s got inhuman speed and strength, so I can’t wait to see who else gets in her path because it’s gonna be a bloodbath. Oh, and props to Rutina Wesley (Tara) for owling on a sink. Genius sheriffs Jason and Andy slowly start to unravel the case of the abandoned car, but I wonder if they’ll really figure it out without Sookie spilling the beans about blowing Debbie’s brains out and then disposed … Continue reading Authority Always Wins… Well, Not Really
Mad Men may have just ended but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate it with illustrations of some of the key female characters. Check out the write-up on Bangstyle. And, of course, we had to start with Joan. Andrea Sparacio captures the feeling of the characters really well. The color schemes and backgrounds fit together seamlessly. You can read the descriptions of each piece on her blog. Andrea is an Artist, Designer & Illustrator living in Brooklyn. Follow her on Twitter, Etsy and Facebook. You can buy her book, The Zombie Autopsies here. Check out her comic for some dry humor. Continue reading The Women of Mad Men – Illustrations by Andrea Sparacio
We last left our residents of Bon Temps in some pretty messed up situations, Tara’s life hanging in the balance, Bill and Eric covered in the blood of the rogue Authority agent, and with a pissed off 3,000 vampire king on the loose. Spoilers… I understand that Bill and Eric need to flee the country from the Authority and go into hiding, and I’m kind of hoping it turns into a buddy comedy adventure, because I can totally see that between them. “Dude, Where’s My Coffin?” is a spinoff that desperately needs to happen. But they get caught before I … Continue reading Werewolves, Vampires, and Fairies, Oh my!
