The World Ends With You was a bizarre but incredible game. Original gameplay, graphics, and an amazing soundtrack makes this easily one of my favorite games. Sometimes I can still hear the beats of the soundtrack pounding in my head.
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will feature not only some characters, but remixed tracks from TWEWY, which that alone has me looking forward to the upcoming KH title. “Twister” was a bit hit harder in TWEWY, but despite making a tad lighter, I still can’t get it out of my head.
Next up is an oldie, but a goodie. Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon” was taken, remixed, and used for the majority of Bayonetta. While the game has a version that’s slower and closer to the original, it’s the ‘Infinite Climax’ mix that made the game’s combat just that much sweeter. Afterall, there’s nothing quite like hacking, slashing, and shooting your way through scores of angels to such a sweet song.
Metal Gear Solid has been my all time favorite series, and in MGS3 they opened the game with a gorgeous original jazz track. Yes, a couple lyrics were iffy, but the overall feeling it generates gets me every time.
And last but not least is Mirror’s Edge, an E3 award winning title that was greatly under appreciated. The parkour-based game used it as an instrumental throughout the levels, which made your runs and leaps of faith all more breath-taking.
