Trails and Ways have a unique sound that is propelling them forward with abandon. Their covers of Miguel, M83, and Miike Snow might make you think they are obsessed with groups starting with the letter “M” but then you’d be wrong.
They make beautiful layered songs with their style (and somehow strip it down too?) that open you up on a rainy, drizzle filled day. That can’t be a bad thing.
The M83 song, “Midnight City”, is especially changed by the lack of saxophone but is merrily matched with the flute. They say they did their “best to evoke the feeling of that last hour before dawn” and I can’t disagree with the effect.
