Disney announced that Star Wars Episode VII is coming out in 2015.

My worst fear: they remake #s IV through VI.

Disney bought Lucasfilm for just over $4 billion yesterday and, while that boosts the economy a little bit (but probably not more than the release of the new iPhone), it still doesn’t do much for our peace of mind. Star Wars has been geeked over and parodied on the internet until everyone is pretty much sick of it…and yet, nobody is willing to give up on it. Old habits die hard.

New generations of fans are born all the time so it makes sense that Disney would want to flog this dead horse until they’ve made the most of it. After all, they did that with Marvel and no one seemed to be upset about The Avengers being both good in theatres and good in the box office. Rumors have been flying all over Twitter since the news appeared yesterday, mostly with people doubting the success Disney will have with it.
