Exciting news, you guys! President Barack Obama is officially endorsing measures in 3 states, including our very own M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D, to legalize same sex marriage. (If you must know, the other states are Maine and Washington.)
According to NPR, the Washington state Obama re-election campaign press secretary had this to say:
”While the president does not weigh in on every single ballot measure in every state, the president believes in treating everyone fairly and equally, with dignity and respect”
And so do we!
You might recall in Maryland, as in Washington, same sex marriage laws were ALREADY passed and signed by the governors but opponents collected signatures in order to hold referendums. Thus the current situation.
Rhyme et Reason is very much pro gay rights. We respect the opinions of some LGBTQ who’d prefer not to marry but don’t think they should keep others in their community from doing so. Actually, we’re quite against that. We do NOT respect the opinions of anyone advocating voting against these measures. Families already come in all shapes and sizes, now it’s just about securing equal legal standing for said families. To oppose same sex marriage is akin to opposing a rising tide. To those who do, we sure hope you can swim!
