Mob Doctor Means Business

Step into the life of Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro)—Chicago surgeon by day, mob servant by night. Phone calls and texts interrupt lunch break, daily rounds and dinner dates.   In the mob world, there are more important “patients” that need treatment- or, in some cases, a quick painless death.

Thanks to her brother’s debt to the mob, Grace steps in as big sister. To pay off his debt, she’ll be called upon to use her medical skills and expertise to handle their dirty business.  It doesn’t take her long to realize that making a deal with Moretti is like making a deal with the devil. Lucky for her, she has family friend Constantine to rescue her from slugs like Moretti. As much as Constantine cares about her family, he has a business to run, too, and he knows that he can’t protect her forever. Soon they’ll be out to get her. She could leave, run away, make a new life as a surgeon somewhere else….but she’s loyal to her family, to her city; she can’t leave. She’s been warned. She’ll be protected, but they own her now.

After only watching the pilot and first episode, the premise of the story seems interesting enough, but there is something missing. The Fox drama needs a little more spice, more twists and turns to make it more appealing.  Will she tell let her boyfriend at the hospital in on her family secret? Maybe an affair with one of the mobsters is in the near future.  Plenty of potential to join my lineup of shows, but it needs to heat up.
