Grizzly Bear is one of those almost ubiquitous indie bands who have made it huge simply by persevering. They garner a large audience because eventually it becomes cool to listen to them. It’s hip, it’s cool. That means a great deal and I don’t wish to diminish their success …but…

I’m not really of that ilk. I can take or leave Grizzly Bear but it is true that I have read more than a few reviews claiming that their new album Shields is some sort of masterpiece. Instead of me telling you it isn’t very good when I have already explained that I am not a fan, here is your chance to listen to it and decide for yourself.

Maybe I should give them another chance.
