Beyoncé, Michelle and Kelly recently announced the reunion of Destiny’s Child with a new album that is set to drop at the end of January. The album, titled “Love Songs,” will include the new single “Nuclear” which was released last week. The song will be performed at the SuperBowl halftime show during Beyoncé’s set.

Every girl who has been a fan of DC since the beginning has been hoping that the diva group would get back together, but are some things better left in the past? I heard the single on the radio last week. After re-living my Destiny’s Child days when 92.3 FM played a ton of the group’s hits, they played the new song. Classics like “Bills, Bills, Bills,” “Say My Name,” “Bootylicious,” and others had me pumped up and expecting the best.
When they finally played the song and I listened the whole way through, I questioned if this was some kind of joke. Was that really Destiny’s Child? If so, it was the most boring, mono-toned song I have ever heard. Nothing like the up-beat, sassy, make-you-wanna-leave your-man songs fans are used to. Even Beyoncé was drowning in the lyrics.
If Nuclear is any indication as to the rest of the album, I won’t even bother listening. I mean, could they have picked a duller song to “re-invent” themselves? Come on.
Take a listen for yourself- but first, indulge in some Destiny’s Child’s classics, because you won’t get the same material from them again.
